Pros: pumps out the heat and pumps out the cool.

Cons: expensive to purchase. Once you go over the 7KW unit, the energy effieciency drops big time. Though, this is the case for most brands.

Overall: These are a good unit which I would only recommend if you have a veeryyy large room. Very heavy. If anyone has problems with these, its probably a bad installation in the first place as I have had zero problems.

Pros: The inside unit looks good.

Cons: These units are unnecessarily complex in there inverter technology and very difficult to repair. This is compounded by Mitsubishi technical support who don't really know the circuits or the component structure.

Overall: This model works well when it works but is nothing short of painful when something goes wrong. I can not recommend buying this model.

Pros: COOLS well in summer but should do because we live in the SW of WA

Cons: HEATING "WELL" its not very good. It was bought to heat in WINTER "BUT" when it's set to 31oC you only get a cool breeze.

Overall: TOTALLY disappointed in the overall performance. Has anybody else had this problem? Do I have to get a repair man out here to the farm? that will take weeks if at all to get someone!!

When operating - it is quiet
Installed 11 Oct. 06. Hardly used due to a cooler summer. Broke down 19 Dec.when used on a hotter day. Has not worked since despite being worked on by technicians. Today is 19.01.07. Both power boards have been replaced. Components appear to operational but system does not actually work.
Mitsubishi have done themselves a disservice in this model. Too complicated and not necessary.
Mitsubishi ought to do more testing over a longer period of time in real situations.
I do not recommend this Model.

Pros: Quiet but this is not surprising (see below)

Cons: Does not produce anything like the 8kW rating in cooling mode. In fact it is typically only putting out about 1.5kW.

If you have a Mitsubish A/C unit, get someone to test your cooling current, as I think you will find that you deserve a refund! These units are a rip off and don't produce anything like their rated power.

My background is 25 years as a technical engineer.

History Of Ductless Aircon 04/06/2009

Japan's Gift To The World

Air conditioning was a recently-added comfort for Japan. Americans introduced window and central air conditioning to Japan at the end of World War II in the forms of ducted systems and window units. These types were not suitable for Japan because of the limited interior spacing and close proximity of its buildings. And with the high density of population Japan required a more compact and noiseless air conditioning system. Additionally, energy costs were very high for the Japanese people, as much as five times higher than that of the United States.

Japan's answer to these constraints, and consequently, their gift to the world was a split-type ductless system that was quiet, yet powerful, and space conscious as well. This form of air conditioning also provided a more energy efficient way to cool a home, room by room. Mitsubishi Electric's factories began producing its own room air conditioners in 1954. Then in 1968, after much engineering and marketing research and development, Mitsubishi Electric introduced its wall mount split-type ductless design then known as "Kirigame", or "Smoky Mountain", now known as Mr. Slim®.

    Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi Electric helped pioneer the mini-split (or ductless) technology as a means of providing Japan's growing population with a highly efficient way to cool and heat their homes and businesses. They designed the Mr. Slim system to fit into spaces that could not otherwise have been effectively heated or cooled due to the close proximity of Japan's buildings, plus they needed a system that was extremely quiet.
